A Gatineau man facing a murder charge in Friday's Borthwick Avenue shooting was previously sentenced to a year in prison for connections to another killing.
Zakaria Dourhnou, 19, is charged with one count of first-degree murder in the death of 20-year-old Ottawa resident Khalid Doreh.
He's also facing two counts of assault with a weapon related to the triple shooting at a town home complex Friday morning.
Dourhnou was sentenced to a year in prison in April 2011 after he pled guilty to obstruction of justice and breaching conditions of his probation in the killing of 16-year-old Yazdan Ghiasi.
He was convicted for cleaning the blood-stained car Ghiasi's body was dumped from on Booth Street in December 2010.
Ottawa police said one of the other two Borthwick Avenue shooting victims remains in hospital, while one has been released.
Neighbours in the east Ottawa community said the shocking aftermath of the shooting played out in plain view.
"My husband had seen, actually heard a girl scream on the street and ran out to see what she was screaming for," said Geraldine Glarvin. "The man was in the middle of the street with blood coming out of his side, he had a towel and yelled for somebody to get an ambulance."
"I know the neighbourhood here, most of them are families," said Victor Essa. "We don't have bad behaviour in the area."
Dourhnou appeared in court Saturday.
Sources told CTV Ottawa Friday night police are hunting for a second suspect.
