Franck Gervais, 32, of Cantley, Quebec, was scheduled to appear in court today charged with impersonating a soldier. His lawyer appeared on his behalf.
On Remembrance Day Gervais did several media interviews at the Canadian War Memorial claiming to be a sergeant in the Canadian Military. Some members of the Canadian Forces recognized some inconsistencies in his uniform and contacted the authorities.
Gervais was charged on November 17, 2014, with impersonating an officer and unlawful use of a military uniform.
His lawyer appeared on his behalf in Ottawa court today. Gervais is next scheduled to appear in court on January 6, 2015.
