Ericsson, one of the world's largest telecom companies, will stay in Ottawa's west end when they move out of the old Nortel campus on Carling Avenue next year.

Ericsson announced Tuesday that the company will be moving its 900 Ottawa employees to 349 Terry Fox Dr. at the Kanata Research Park.

The tech firm will start moving to its new location next summer. The move is expected to be complete by the end of 2012.

The CEO and President of Ericsson Canada said the new location will give the company a great space to continue research and development in Ottawa.

"Ericsson is pleased to move our Ottawa-based employees to a state-of-the art facility providing leading-edge R&D for global telecom service providers," Mark Henderson stated in a news release. "We look forward to remaining in the Ottawa area, one of North America's leading R&D hubs."

The new building will feature 200,000 square feet of operational space, with the potential to expand. The company says about 80 per cent of cellphone calls in Canada are served by Ericsson's technology.
