Nortel's headquarters on Carling Avenue is the site of a celebration today.

Swedish telecom giant Ericsson is unveiling new signage on the building it now owns as part of its takeover of Nortel's wireless division.

The deal officially closed on Friday, shifting 2,500 Nortel workers to Ericsson's payroll. Nine-hundred of those employees work in Ottawa, the rest are employed in the U.S.

The CEO of Ericsson's Canada division will be on hand today to mark the occasion.

Ericsson considers its new Ottawa offices a key research lab for its wireless technology. The company's top boss says the investment in wireless technology makes Ericsson's North American market the most important.
