Airport officials say a burning odour and a warning light on a Canadian North flight forced an evacuation of the plane at Ottawa’s international airport Monday morning.
The Iqaluit-bound flight had 72 passengers and four crew members on board.
Krista Kealey with the Ottawa airport says a warning light came on in the cockpit alerting the pilot that there may be a fire coming from inside the plane.
The Transportation Safety Board investigated shortly after 10:30 a.m. and deemed it was a false alarm. The flight was cancelled and passengers are being put up in a hotel overnight. They are expected to fly out tomorrow.
No word on what caused the light to come on.
