CORNWALL, Ont. - An eastern Ontario man faces an automatic life term when he's sentenced in June for killing his mother in her home in March 2008.
Pierre Groulx, 40, showed no emotion Thursday as the second-degree murder verdict was returned by a Cornwall jury.
Yolande Groulx was found dead in her home on Bruce Street in South Stormont, with what police said were "obvious signs of trauma."
As he discharged the jurors, Judge Robert Pelletier said they had witnessed some "upsetting evidence" and shown "a great deal of composure."
The jury also submitted recommendations on paper for parole eligibility which were not revealed in court.
Sentencing will take place June 10 when members of Yolande Groulx's family can make victim impact statements.
