A 5.2 earthquake in the Ottawa Valley shook foundations, rattled walls, and scared residents from the start of the May long holiday weekend.
The earthquake orginated northeast of Shawville. Quebec at 9:43 am.
Earthquakes Canada says the quake rumbled through Ottawa and as was felt as far as Waterloo.
There were also a number of aftershocks
Several callers to the CTV Ottawa newsroom from Arnrpior say they've never experienced an earthquake that lasted that long.
" It did shake pretty good for 15 to 20 seconds. I've been through many earthquakes and that's by far the strongest I felt," Arnrpior Mayor David Reid.
The owner of Jim's Restaurant in Arnprior says he felt his building was going to be lifted out of the ground.
