Police have a suspect in custody after a man and woman were stabbed at 5:10 Saturday morning.

The stabbing happened inside the victims' home at 1265 Rideout Crescent in Ottawa's west end.

Both Amalle Thomas and her husband Frank were in their 40s. She is listed in critical condition and he is stable.

According to police reports, the 20-year-old was spotted driving down Hwy 417 and a police chase followed. Police say the accused ditched his car behind the west-end police station near Palladium Drive and ran into a bushy area.

He was caught with the help of the canine unit.

Charges are pending.
