TORONTO - Emirates airline says poor weather conditions at Toronto's Pearson airport forced a flight from Dubai to make an emergency landing in Ottawa on Friday.

The airbus A380 made a two-hour stop at Ottawa Airport and eventually arrived in Toronto just before 9 p.m., more than five hours late.

An Emirates spokeswoman says the airline is sorry for the delay, but stresses passenger and crew safety are "of the highest priority and will not be compromised."

A spokeswoman for the Ottawa Airport says it is the designated diversion site for Toronto-bound planes.

The airbus A380 is a double-deck, wide-body, four-engine plane that can carry about 500 passengers.
