City staff say those hoping to catch a glimpse of the demolition of the lower south-side stands at Frank Clair Stadium at Lansdowne Park will likely be out of luck.
Officials told CTV Ottawa, the public will likely see very little when a blast destroys old stands at the stadium at 8 a.m. Sunday.
Instead, the City is urging those who want to see the blast to log onto their website where the demolition will be streamed live.
The implosion, which will cause the south-side stands to crumble as if they're kneeling down, is scheduled to close stadium access points and roads within 250 metres of the site starting at 6 a.m.
The City says portions of the Rideau Canal waterway will also be closed east and west of Lansdowne Park.
Road closures include:
- Bank Street - Holmwood Avenue to Euclid Avenue
- Colonel By Drive - Rosedale Avenue to Clegg Street
- Echo Drive - Colonel By Drive to Riverdale Avenue
- Queen Elizabeth Driveway - Lansdowne Park, Gate 4 to Ralph Street
- Queen Elizabeth Place - Wilton Crescent to Queen Elizabeth Driveway
- Wilton Crescent - Bank Street to Wilton Lane
- Monk Street - Woodlawn Avenue to Wilton Crescent
- Oakland Avenue - Monk Street to Wilton Lane
- Aylmer Avenue - Bank Street to Galt Street
Local traffic will be redirected and roads are expected to reopen by 8:30 a.m.
The farmers' market which is held every Sunday at Lansdowne Park is expected to be open as per usual.
