Claiming to be the best in town is a mighty bold statement, but Stephen Ha of S & G Fries has three titles to back it up.
"I just strive to be the best for myself," he says.
Like any experienced contender, Ha has no quams about revealing his secret: Russet Potatoes from Prince Edward Island.
"It's the taste, the texture and consistency," he says about the quality.

CTV Ottawa also crossed to Quyon, over the Ottawa River, to get to the region's best fries -- where you'll find McCann's Fries, open for 41 years.
Owner Mae McCann says time has tested her product: "You don't work here this long and don't learn anything."
Just ask frite first-timer Simon Malone.
"They're juicy, they taste good with ketchup, and they're just so good."
Sweet potato fries
Still, a tiny chip truck in Carp could change the entire game. Andrea and Joey Yagminas started up The Sweet Potato three years ago. They have a secret weapon that just might sour the competition.
"We mix sweet potatoes with regular potatoes, and offer a selection of dips," says Andrea.
This was the first choice for four-year-old Alex's birthday meal, double-stamp approved by older brother Jacob.
"The fries are very good, but it's the service, they are very polite," Jacob says.
One thing is for sure -- CTV Ottawa's quest to crown a chip champ won't be easy.
