A two-vehicle collision has closed Highway 401 in both directions near South Stormont after a vehicle was hit by a tractor trailer this morning.

Ontario Provincial Police say the initial stages of their investigation indicate the vehicle was travelling westbound near the community of Ingleside when the driver lost control and was struck by a tractor trailer.

The driver of the big rig then crossed the median and flipped on its side, blocking parts of the eastbound lane.

Both lanes are currently closed and traffic is being rerouted at the Ingleside off-ramp.

No injuries have been reported. However, emergency crews remain on the scene where they are removing the tractor trailer's load of bulk corn, which spilled on the highway.

Police expect the highway to remain closed for about three hours.
