Ottawa residents who've been hit hard by chronic flooding can now apply for some financial relief from the city.

Homeowners or tenants who've experienced damage from flooding caused by backed up sewers three times in the last 15 years are now eligible for a $1,000-grant.

Residents must provide photographs or invoices related to the damage in order to apply for the grant. They can also provide a sworn affidavit.

All claims must be submitted to the city by the end of February. City council approved the grant on Wednesday.
