No charges have been laid yet in the death of an Ottawa man badly beaten in a bar-room brawl last week in Peterborough. A coroner's report is expected shortly as an investigation into the events of that night continue.

Stephenson Auguste, 41, died of severe head injuries in the strip-club fight, which involved as many as 20 people. Police say they aren't sure if an underlying condition contributed to his death.

The 41-year-old father came to Ottawa five years ago from St. Lucia, and was in Peterborough on a short-term scaffolding job.

After he was found unconscious on the floor, authorities rushed him to hospital in Peterborough and moved him to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, where he died on Saturday.

Peterborough police have ruled the death a homicide. Anyone who may have witnessed the fight or knows anything about the incident is asked to contact the police at 705-876-1122.
