A Cornwall teenager wanted for murder is in police custody one week after the stabbing death of a 32-year-old man.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was accompanied by his lawyer when he turned himself in to police late Thursday afternoon. He was arrested without incident and held for a bail hearing.

The youth was wanted in connection with the stabbing death of John Paul Tessier, from Cornwall.

Tessier was stabbed at a home on Prince Arthur Street on Aug. 25, and died of his stab wounds in hospital. He was one day shy of his 33rd birthday.

Police say their investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Cornwall police at (613) 933-5000, ext. 2446.
