CORNWALL - A Human Rights Tribunal has ruled against Cornwall and three of the city's current and former managers over harassment and accommodation in the workplace.
The decision involves former city employee Marie Anne Pilon, who suffers from colitis.
The tribunal adjudicator says the city, John Flannigan and then-CFO David Dick failed to accommodate Pilon by confining her washroom use to her scheduled breaks.
Muir says the managers also failed to address Pilon's harassment by fellow employees, who went to management about her washroom use.
The tribunal decision further states that the city and human resources manager Rob Menagh discriminated against Pilon when they terminated her in 2006 rather than address her health issues.
Cornwall officials say they are reviewing internal policies but say the city has made improvements since the case arose in 2004.
