PETERBOROUGH - Provincial police in Peterborough County have charged a police officer under the province's stunt driving law and impounded an unmarked Durham Regional Police vehicle.

It happened Thursday on Highway 115 when a police traffic aircraft spotted a vehicle speeding and the car was pulled over by a provincial police officer.

Provincial police impounded the vehicle for seven days and a 34-year-old, 10-year member of the Durham Regional Police has had his driver's licence suspended for the same period.

The officer has been charged with racing a motor vehicle under the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in court in Peterborough on Sept. 14.
