Skaters itching to get their fix of the Rideau Canal will get the chance again on Saturday -- the extreme cold snap hitting Ottawa will reopen the outdoor skating rink at 8 a.m.

The National Capital Commission advises skaters that the safe area is between the Bank Street Bridge and the Concord Rest Area (at Waverley Street/Queen Elizabeth Driveway and Concord Street/Colonel By Drive), a 3.3-kilometre stretch of ice.

All other areas will remain closed until further notice as they are not the required 30 centimetres thick that is required for safe skating.
