A 14-year-old boy from Northumberland County died late Friday afternoon after his toboggan struck a tree on a popular but ice-covered hill in Colborne.
Mitchell Ferguson and a friend were riding on a GT Snow Racer on Tank Hill when they crashed, causing massive head injuries. The other rider was not injured.
Police called Mitchell's death a "freak and unfortunate accident."
