The City of Ottawa says that in September it will retire bus route 76, and change the number to 72.

It is one way that the municipality plans to honour the victims of last year’s crash in Barrhaven between an OC Transpo bus and Via Rail train that killed six people.

The city says it is communicating with victim’s families about the best way to remember those who died. There are also plans for a commemorative plaque or marker.

On the anniversary of the crash, September 18, flags at city buildings will be lowered and a moment of silence will be observed at a Transit Commission meeting the day before.
