Firefighters, police and paramedics make up two-thirds of the top salary-earners at Ottawa City Hall.

About 1,000 people are listed on the so-called "sunshine list", which identifies city employees who earned more than $100,000 in 2010.

The top earner is the city's Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Isra Levy, who earned $308,301.

Other top earners include:

  • City Manager Kent Kirkpatrick: $281,590
  • Police Chief Vern White: $233,386
  • OC Transpo General Manager Alain Mercier: $186,116
  • Fire Chief John deHooge: $153,772

Almost 400 employees with Ottawa police are on the list, along with 299 employees from Ottawa Fire Services and 36 paramedic employees.

Three hundred of those on the list have base salaries less than $100,000. However, their salaries were pushed up because of retroactive payments, overtime, on-call pay, merit pay and vacation cash-outs.

The city is required by law to disclose the names, positions, salaries and taxable benefits of employees who receive more than $100,000 in compensation.
