The final fundraising push is on before Sunday's MS Walk for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.

One story of dedication is that of eight-year-old Declan Perkins, whose aunt Cathy has the chronic central nervous system disease.

Perkins donated half his birthday money to the cause and said the lack of a cure was why.

"I did that because my aunt has MS and I really want there to be a cure," he said. "I know that many other deadly diseases like that have a cure to it but there's no cure for MS."

Check-in and registration for the walk opens at 8 a.m. Sunday at the Jean Talon building in Tunney's Pasture, with the walk starting at 10 a.m. registration is also open online.

The walk's website said their fundraising goal is $385,000, to go towards research as well as local services and programs.

Last year's walk had about 1,700 participants raise about $340,000.
