CHEO'S Dream of a Lifetime lottery has begun its 2011 campaign, with this year's prize home revealed on Monday.
The 4,000 square-foot home could cost as much as $1.7 million dollars, but could be won with a $100 ticket – money that goes toward research and equipment for the hospital.
"CHEO has a long list of equipment needs," said Kevin Keohane from the CHEO foundation. "Some of these will be either applied to purchasing a number of small pieces or being put toward some of the larger pieces that may be needed."
Money from past fundraisers went to help patients like nine-month-old Ellie Cooper.
"We couldn't have asked for anything better," said her mother Renee. "The doctors and the nurses were incredible. They kept us going whenever we thought that we couldn't and the care that she received was second to none."
Those who want to take a tour of the home can do so until Dec. 16. It has four bedrooms, five bathrooms, an exercise and games room as well as a home theatre.
"The house itself has been kitted out. . . with all our best trades and suppliers sort of putting forward their master, innovative and high quality new ideas," said Paul Rookwood of Minto Communities Inc.
The draw is scheduled for Jan. 16, 2012.
Last year's home went to Jerry McCrank and Deborah Connors of Gatineau, who won a $1.5 million Manotick home.
