After selling out in France, a shipment of the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo has arrived in Canada.

The Canadian distributor says 30 copies are available at select outlets in the Ottawa area.

Copies will be shared between Globe Mags & Cigars on William St., Librairie du Soleil on George St. and Mags & Fags on Elgin St.

“We've been getting hundreds of calls every day from people wanting to put a hold on it, we have over 560 reservations in our system right now,” said Jean-Philip Guy, manager at Librairie du Soleil.

Librairie du Soleil had 15 copies of the magazine in house on Friday, all of which have been claimed in pre-sales.

Customers are continuing to come in to the shop and call to obtain their own copy.

“It’s a question of freedom of speech, of solidarity with French members of my family,” said customer David Lauzon.

Last week, two gunmen stormed the Charlie Hebdo headquarters in Paris, killing 12 people.

Around five million copies of Charlie Hebdo will be printed and published around the world with more copies expected to arrive in Canada over the next few weeks.
