Charges have been upgraded against a 19-year-old in connection with last Friday's fatal triple shooting in Ottawa's east end.

Zakaria Dourhnou has been charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of 20-year-old Khalid Doreh at a home on Borthwick Avenue.

Dourhnou was also facing two counts of assault with a weapon after two other men—Ibrahim Iman and Mohamud Ahmed—were injured in the shooting.

Those assault charges have now been upgraded to attempted murder.

Dournhou was accused of being an accessory to murder in the death of Yazdan Ghiasvand Ghiasi, the 16-year-old who was shot to death in a drug-related murder on December 6, 2010.

He pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of obstructing justice and served a year in jail.

He was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
