Two Ottawa men are facing multiple charges in connection with a swarming that happened on Sept. 14 in Vanier.

Ottawa police said 26-year-old Anthony James Guertin and 23-year-old Damien Faucher-Bouffard have both been charged with six offences including robbery, assault causing bodily harm, uttering threats and possession of a firearm obtained by crime.

Guertin is facing an additional two counts of possessing a firearm while prohibited.

Police said a male was standing in front of a convenience store on Lavergne Street on Sept. 14 around 6:30 p.m. when two suspects left the store. One of the suspects, who was armed with a handgun, grabbed the victim and assaulted him when he resisted.

The victim received minor head injuries.

Both suspects fled the scene with some things belonging to the victim but dropped it nearby.

They went into a nearby residence but were arrested a short time later.

Then, on Sept. 15, members of the guns and gangs unit executed a search warrant on Lebrun Street and recovered a handgun.

Guertin and Faucher-Bouffard remain in police custody. Both men will both appear in court again later this month.
