Ottawa police have charged an 18-year-old male in connection to a stabbing at a downtown Ottawa apartment building late Friday.

Shortly before midnight on Friday, police were called to 420 Gloucester St.  after two men, ages 19 and 22, were suffering from stab wounds.

Police say the 19-year-old was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries, but is now in stable condition.

The 22-year-old man was treated at the Ottawa hospital and has since been released.

18-year-old Ricky Gervais of Ottawa is charged with robbery, uttering death threats and breach of custody.

He has been remanded into custody.

The stabbings happened in a unit on the sixth floor of the building. Neighbours say the heard screaming and fighting coming from down the hall around the time of the incident, and saw blood on the walls.

A police officer remained at the scene Saturday morning guarding the unit taped off by yellow police tape.

Central District Investigators are continuing their investigation.
