OTTAWA - The Ottawa Police Robbery Unit has laid charges in connection to a bank robbery.

On April 14, 2014, at approximately 4:15 pm, a lone male entered a bank situated along the 1600 block of Scott Street. The suspect produced a note making a demand for cash. No weapon was seen. The suspect was provided an undisclosed quantity of cash and he then fled the bank. There were no injuries.

A short time later, responding officers located the suspect on foot in the area of Primrose Avenue./Empress Avenue. The suspect fled but was located and arrested without incident. At the time of arrest, the suspect was found to be carrying a knife.

Chris Leahy, age 25 of Merrickville, has been charged with single counts each of the following offences:

  • Robbery
  • Wear disguise
  • Possession of weapons dangerous to the public
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Breach of probation

Mr. Leahy appears in court on April 15, 2014.
