A 19-year-old Ottawa man has been charged with animal cruelty after he allegedly threw an 11-month-old cat from the window of a second-story apartment building last month.
Jake Levert appeared in court Thursday. If convicted, he faces a $2,000 fine and or six months in jail. If guilty, he will also face a two-year ban on owning any animals.
The cat - named Lyle - suffered a broken leg as a result of the fall. Lyle's leg was repaired by the Ottawa Humane society and he now has a new home.
