Julie Renaud says she is lucky to be alive after she was struck by a vehicle on Tuesday while walking with her two-year-old son.

Renaud says the collision, which was caught on a dash camera, happened at Lola St. and Donald around 4p.m.

“I pushed my son out of the way, but I still had one handle on the stroller and that’s when he hit me on my left hand side, and I went down,” she explained.

The incident was caught on a nearby driver’s dash camera who gave it to Renaud to submit to police.

Ottawa Police could not comment on the case but confirm they are investigating a collision between a pedestrian and vehicle in that area Tuesday.

Renaud says she shouted at the male driver to wait, but claims as other concerned citizens ran over to check on her, he took off.

In the video it appears the crosswalk sign is counting down which indicates Renaud would have had the right of way.

She describes the vehicle as light blue dodge caravan.
