A local catering company is being investigated by Ottawa Public Health after more than a dozen lab-confirmed cases of salmonella possibly links back to the lunch they all ate.
The children affected are between 15 months and 14 years old. So far, three have been hospitalized.
While all sources of food are being investigated, the common denominator for the outbreak is lunch provided to three different schools and one daycare by the Lunch Lady catering service.
CTV News has learned the three schools affected are Turnbull Academy, Steve MacLean Public School and Jean Paul II Elementary. The daycare suffering an outbreak is Tiny Hoppers in Kanata.
Ottawa's chief medical officer of health Dr. Isra Levy sent a letter to local doctors warning them of the outbreak.
Salmonella symptoms include nausea, vomiting, dehydration and bloody stool.
Doctors are being asked to keep a watchful eye on cases of salmonella infections.
