Ontario Provincial Police say the cash reward in the case of a hit and run that killed 18-year-old Jessica Godin has been doubled to $100,000.
Police say they have conducted more than 90 interviews since it happened on September 24, 2011. So far, their investigation has not led to an arrest or conviction.
Godin was last seen alive two days before her body was discovered in a ditch. It has been nearly three years since her death.
Police say Godin was killed when she was struck and left for dead in the Fournier area of Nation Township.
The reward for information leading to a conviction has been doubled with the help of the government of Ontario and an organization called Sun Youth. Police believe there is someone out there withholding information and wants them to come forward. Police have investigated hundreds of tips but have yet to crack the case.
A reward of this amount is extremely rare and it is the first time the Montreal-based group Sun Youth has offered a reward in Ontario. The non-profit organization, which helps in crisis situations, was approached by an anonymous donor who said they were touched by Godin's story.
Sun Youth has been offering rewards in criminal cases since 1991 and have had a 28 per cent success rate.
In March 2012, the Hawkesbury OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of OPP Detective Inspector Dan Nadeau, Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) released this video on You Tube to provide information to the public about this ongoing investigation and is appealing to anyone with information to contact the OPP.
