An Ottawa woman who was operating a daycare where a toddler drowned last year has been fined $2,000.

Two-year-old Jeremie Audette was visiting a home in Orleans in July 2010 when he drowned in a backyard pool.

Audette's babysitter had brought him to the home for a regular organized play date.

Wendy Andruszka-Lapierre, the caregiver who owns the pool, was fined $2,000 and given 12 months probation. She was found guilty on four counts of operating an illegal daycare centre.
