Sunday’s 100th Grey Cup game gave football fans in Ottawa a taste of what it's like to be back in the game.
“It's exciting, it's nice the tradition continues with the Grey Cup and lots of fun to be with friends,” said Brenda Rockburn.
A CFL team is set to return to the Capital in 2014 and will play at Lansdowne Park once the redevelopment is complete.
“I remember going to games as a kid and I'm really excited about going back again,” said Barry Smith.
“It’s great for Canada. It's great for Ottawa to have a team coming,” said Tom Rizk.
“It rebuilds the energy for the east, we're looking forward to a team. We remember the days of the Riders and Renegades and we look back at them going 'I wish we had a team.'”
“We had fantastic fans, and the fans make the game,” said former Ottawa Rough Riders linebacker Mark Kosmos. He helped the team bring home two Grey Cups in the 1970s. “If you don't have fans you might as well shut the doors down. But the fans make it worthwhile.”
Others said Ottawa needs another sports team to cheer for, aside from the Ottawa Senators.
