Competition in the waterpark industry can get pretty wild.
Calypso Theme Waterpark in Limoges is embracing the challenge with a new $7-million attraction called “Kongo Expedition”.
“We're first and we want to stay first. The best one,” says Guy Drouin, Calypso CEO.
The new wave river ride spans 400 metres and uses more than 686,000 gallons of water. It takes about 15 minutes to ride through and can hole up to 400 people at a time.
“This is up to par to something you'd find in Orlando, Florida, or Walt Disney. It has the theme, the entire ride experience,” says Emily Colombo who tried Kongo for the first time.
Features include animatronic monkeys, even an elephant bent on dousing passersby.
The new attraction will also add 50 seasonal jobs to the region.
