One of the biggest waterparks in Canada has added a new high-speed thrill for this season -- a new tower of waterslides that are steep, fast and elaborate.
Calypso Waterpark in Limoges, east of Ottawa, just opened the Summit Tower, one of the tallest free-standing waterslide towers in North America. At 90 feet high, the tower has 10 waterslides, and 10 thrilling ways to make your way down.
"The adrenaline was crazy. Whenever you go on the purple and white one you think you're going to fall off. I don't know, I was screaming the whole way down. It's a lot of fun," Lauren Alguire told CTV Ottawa on Tuesday.
"It was really fun. At first I thought it was really scary, but then I want to go again," added Mathieu Pelland.
Last year the park had more than 400,000 visitors, and with the introduction of the new waterslide tower, Calypso's president and CEO expects business to go up.
"We had 20 per cent more than the number we figured for the first summer. So we're very proud of that. So we are hoping this summer will be nice also," said Guy Drouin.
Calypso is located about 45 kilometres east of Ottawa. The waterpark offers more than 35 waterslides and 100 water games, as well as Canada's largest wave pool.
