General manager Bryan Murray is staying to lead the rebuild of the Ottawa Senators.

Senators owner Eugene Melnyk said at a news conference Friday that Murray's contract has been extended for three more years.

This followed a meeting between the two on Friday morning.

"I sure didn't want to leave on a year that we had a performance like this," said Murray of the team's 32-39-10 record, 13th in the Eastern Conference.

Murray was named GM before the 2007-08 season, and has steered Ottawa to a 155-137-35 record. He also coached the team for two-plus seasons, amassing a 107-55-20 record.

Still unknown is the future of coach Cory Clouston. Murray has said that he will be considered for the job in the future, along with Canadian world junior coach Dave Cameron.

The Senators' season ends Saturday afternoon in Boston.
