Brides-to-be say the opening of a new American chain lets them find good deals on dresses closer to home.

The opening of Canada's fourth David's Bridal location in Ottawa means shoppers don't need to make the trip to Toronto or the United States for wedding needs.

"There was a huge amount of our brides travelling to find their gown, whether in Mississauga or Montreal or Syracuse," said Julie Demole with David's Bridal. "So now we have something right here."

Sylvie Patenaude said she's five months away from her wedding day, putting the pressure on to find the perfect dress.

"Finding the right one, the one that gives me the feel and look I'm looking for," she said, even though she already has one at home. "I had done the risky thing of buying one online so I'm just testing it out to see if I can find something a little bit better."

David's built its name and its 300 American locations on offering designer names without the high price tags.

Aside from the wedding dresses, bridesmaids said they're also finding their quest for the perfect dress a bit stressful.

"More so, because I have to please more than one person now," said a laughing Suzanne Brown.

"There's no price limit, I just want to make the bride happy," said Sabrina Marques.
