The body of a Napanee pilot has been recovered from a northern Ontario lake, one day after his plane went down with two others aboard.

Provincial police said the body of 55-year-old Richard Douglas was recovered from Lillabelle Lake around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, along with that of passenger Glen Higgs of Cochrane, Ont.

A second male passenger, age 54, is in stable condition at a nearby hospital.

The single-engine de Havilland Beaver aircraft went down in the lake near Cochrane, 400 kilometres north of Sudbury, on Friday.

Police and the Transportation Safety Board of Canada are still investigating.
