Ottawa police is investigating after a body was found in a car that became fully engulfed in flames on an isolated stretch of rural road near the Mer Bleue Bog in the city's east end.

Police were called to the scene when a body was discovered in the burning vehicle on Dolman Ridge Road just before 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police are treating the case as "suspicious" and are searching all vehicles leaving Mer Bleue, a secluded conservation area popular with walkers.

A team of McGill students doing research at the bog had their vehicle searched by police when they left the area mid-afternoon. The researchers told reporters although they saw smoke, they didn't witness anything else.
