The three bodies found in a home in the eastern part of Gatineau Friday night have been identified as a married couple and their adult son.
Friends and family identified the dead as Denis and Lucie Lagace, a married couple in their 60s, as well as a man in his thirties or forties believed to be Lucie's son.
Neighbours said the scene Friday night was very unusual for their quiet residential street.
"When I got home the place was full of police and ambulance," said Gerard Lahaie. "I would never expect that house to be the theatre of such a thing."
"When we saw so many cop cars and so many ambulance, so many police people, (we knew) it was more than just a heart attack," said Pierre Crete.
Flowers were being laid Saturday at the home on Saguenay Road, north of Maloney Boulevard and east of Lorraine Boulevard.
"We heard them before, they were normal people having a normal life," said neighbour Francois Hardy. "It's very surprising."
Police said the bodies showed signs of physical injuries, with a handgun also found at the scene.
"The investigator is asking autopsy and expertise on the gun to determine if the gun (was used) during that incident," said Lieut. Jean Francois Beauchamp.
Police are releasing few other details about the incident – they said they were called to the scene by a woman in her 20s whose connection to the family is still unclear.
They said they are investigating the incident as a possible murder-suicide.
Autopsies will be conducted on Monday.
