Belleville police have laid street racing charges in connection with a late October crash that's left one person still in hospital.

Police said what they originally thought was a single-vehicle collision happened on Oct. 25 around 11:43 p.m., when a Honda lost control near Bay Bridge Road and hit a cement pole.

All four people inside the car were taken to Belleville General Hospital, with one transferred to Kingston General Hospital where they're still being treated.

Police said as the investigation continued they found another car (a 1999 Cavalier) they said was directly involved in the collision, allegedly in a street race with the Honda.

Charges have been laid against the drivers of the cars – 20-year-old William Goodfellow of Roslin is facing two counts each of dangerous driving causing bodily harm, dangerous driving while street racing causing bodily harm, criminal negligence causing bodily harm and criminal negligence while street racing causing bodily harm.

Cory Badgerow, aged 20 of Picton, is charged with one count of dangerous driving while street racing.

Both are scheduled to appear in court in December.
