Belleville police are investigating after the apparent suicide of a police officer who appears to have shot himself inside the station Wednesday morning.
Police say the body of Mike Eby, 51, was discovered in a locked office at about 8:30 a.m.
Eby was a 20-year veteran with the Belleville Police Service, and worked as a crime analysis expert.
A post mortem on Eby's body is scheduled for Thursday in Kingston.
Although Ontario's Special Investigation Unit was contacted, they will not be investigating the incident.
