A man responsible for robbing two gas stations in Ottawa turned himself in to police.

Brian Towell, 18, contacted Ottawa police on Friday and provided a full confession for two robberies he was involved in during 2008. Towell was charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of property obtained by crime.

The first robbery occurred on May 17 at the Sunoco gas station on Conroy Road. After being buzzed inside, the robber threw a house brick at the attendant, narrowly missing him. He then made demands for cash and cigarettes.

The second incident occurred on Tuesday, June 17 at about 3:30 a.m. at the Pioneer gas station on Bank Street. The robber threw a large rock at the clerk and again demanded cash and cigarettes.

Towell is set to appear in court on Sept. 18.
