A bail hearing that is expected to last three days is underway for a second man charged in an alleged homegrown terror plot.

Khurram Syed Sher, 28, of London, Ont., is charged with conspiracy to facilitate a terror act.

He is one of three Ontario men facing charges under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Sher, who is a doctor, was born in Montreal. The House of Commons previously recognized him for his volunteer work helping earthquake victims in Pakistan in 2006. He is also known for a Canadian Idol audition, which friends say he did as a joke.

Sher's co-accused, Misbahuddin Ahmed, 26, was released on bail with strict conditions on Tuesday.

Ahmed is charged with conspiracy to facilitate terrorism and possession of an explosive substance with the intent to endanger life or property, or to enable another to do so for the benefit of a terrorist group. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 20.

Hiva Alizadeh, 30, is also charged with terror-related offences. He will appear in court via video link on Sept. 30. His bail hearing has not yet been set.
