A bail hearing for a 20-year-old man charged in connection with the deaths of an Ottawa couple ended with no conclusion. The judge says she will make a decision at a later date.

Simon Banke wore a suit and kept his eyes forward during his court appearance at the Elgin Street courthouse on Friday.

Banke is charged with several offences, including dangerous driving causing death and stunt racing.

He was arrested after Leo Paul Renier and his wife Sherrie were struck as they waited for their bus on Albert Street. Both died of their injuries last week.

Members of Banke's family, as well as the Regnier family, were in court to listen to the proceedings.

Evidence presented at the bail hearing is protected under a publication ban, which is standard order.
