Back to school means worries over homework, tests and crushes for most students, but some parents went the opposite direction after dropping their kids off Tuesday.

Parents Jeff and Susan Lamarche used the return of school as an excuse to treat themselves at Le Nordik Spa in Chelsea.

“I thought it would be a perfect day to treat her and treat ourselves for a long summer,” said Jeff.

Still, Susan said it was hard to completely unwind.

“It's tough to leave them with somebody else,” she said. “It's tough to come here and have a quiet day knowing they're at school”

Jacqueline Cowan said she didn’t share the same concerns while getting a pedicure at another spa.

“I've decided just take a little bit of time for myself after being with the children,” she said. “Time to take care of me a little bit.”

Another person happy about the return to class is convenience story owner Mohamad Farhat, who gets big business on lunch breaks.

“We've been here for 16 years and every year at this time we get everybody waiting to come for the first day,” he said.

“Nepean High School, Notre Dame and Broadview Public School, all of them come at the same time.”

Students were among the least enthused of the groups involved.

“It’s OK, I already got homework,” said one. “I don’t like it.”

“I wanted to see my friends and stuff, so it wasn’t that bad,” said another.

Parents said no matter how the first day went, they realize they’re going to miss these days once they’re gone.
