Police say autopsy results have confirmed two bodies found outside a home in rural west Quebec are the result of a murder-suicide.

The bodies of 52-year-old Joanne Perry and her 29-year-old son Jason were found early Monday morning outside a home in Waltham, about 130 kilometres northwest of Ottawa.

Neighbours in the small community say they are in disbelief following the tragedy.

"It's an awful shock really. I don't expect to hear that," Barry Harkins told CTV Ottawa on Monday.

Police are still trying to piece together the final moments leading up to the murder-suicide.

Ken Perry, Joanne's husband and Jason's father, was questioned by police Monday as a witness to the tragic incident.
