Parents in a quiet Ottawa neighbourhood are on alert after two reported attempts of child luring in a matter of days.

Both incidents happened near the intersection of Cavendish Road and Rachael Avenue in the Alta Vista area.

Ottawa Police confirm receiving a complaint on Friday, September, 9th. At around 4:20pm, a man in a white car attempted to lure a child with candy and an iPod or iPhone. Police investigated but didn’t find anything.

According to a local parent, the same thing happened again to her child on Tuesday, September 13th.

In both cases, the children made it home safely.

Marisa Gilbert lives near the intersection. She says she has spoken with the mother of the child targeted on Tuesday and is now trying to help get the word out. “Just like other parents in the community, my family, we're very concerned about it. So I created a poster and, with other parents trying to get the community aware of the situation so that we can catch this person," says Gilbert.

The man is described as Caucasian with brown hair, in his late 30s or early 40s, driving a small to medium-sized white sedan. Anyone with any information is asked to notify police.
