Gatineau police and RCMP have made an arrest in a fatal east Ottawa triple shooting Friday morning.
Ottawa police say they were called to the 800 block of Borthwick Street around 11:50 a.m. after gunshots were heard in a long stretch of town homes.
Neighbours told CTV Ottawa's Catherine Lathem they saw a man lying in the street covered in blood and crying for help, trying to stop the bleeding with a towel.
"I saw the one gentleman laying on the grass, he had a towel on him . . . he was yelling 'Somebody phone the damn ambulance,'" said one nearby resident.
They said another man was lying injured on the front porch of a home.
Ottawa police confirmed in the afternoon that one of the men has died after the shooting, with two other injured men remaining in hospital.
Later, Gatineau police and RCMP stopped a vehicle in Aylmer, arrested a suspect and brought them back to Ottawa.
Ottawa police won't confirm if the shooting was gang-related or if a manhunt for other suspects is underway.
"If we have any information . . . we'll make sure it's out in a timely manner," said Const. Marc Soucy of the Ottawa police.
Neighbours said the home was the scene of a police stand-off a few years ago.
At least three area schools had to take precautions because of the shooting.
Manor Park Public School's doors were locked and children kept inside, with a similar situation at Rideau High School and Queen Elizabeth Public School.
Officials with the Ottawa Catholic School Board say Our Lady of Mount Carmel school was in a "Secure School" situation as well.
